Dr. Quyen Tran was born and raised in Vietnam; her family immigrated to Oakland, CA when she was 14. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from University of California at Berkeley. She obtained her medical degree from Pennsylvania State University, College of Medicine at Hershey in 2007. In June, 2011 she completed four years of residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Tran received the �Special Resident in Minimally Invasive Gynecology� Award from the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopist in 2011. In March of 2012, she started her private practice in Hilo specializing in women�s health.

Dr. Tran has hospital privileges at Hilo Medical Center. Her professional affiliations include the Amercican Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, American Medical Association, and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Tran moves to Hilo with her husband, Professor Chris Lauer, and infant son Clancy (aka Monkey) in 2011 when Chris was offered a tenure-track position at the University of Hawaii at Hilo in Philosophy. They enjoy the frequent rainbows and wonderful local fruits, and are worriedly looking forward to Monkey learning how to surf.


Larena Richards was born and raised in Hilo, graduated from Hilo High, and is the mother of three lovely children. She loves the outdoors and enjoys cooking (especially Italian food) and mystery books. She has worked in the medical field since 2004 and in 2011 received her National Certificate for Medical Reimbursement. She has over 15 years experience of customer service and is known for her friendly competence. She loves trying new things and appreciates the chance to serve the women of Hilo.
